Cup of Excellence winner – Café de Minas – scores a “premium specialty”
rating of 90.84 and will be offered exclusively by Diedrich Coffee
IRVINE, Calif. (August 22, 2005) – Diedrich Coffee Inc. (NASDAQ:
DDRXE), a leading roaster, retailer and wholesaler of gourmet coffee in
Southern California, has announced that it will be the exclusive
provider of the award-winning Brazilian coffee, Café de Minas.
Awarded a premium specialty rating of 90.84 by the Cup of Excellence
program, this estate grown coffee was judged to be one of the very
finest in the world. Grown in the mountainous region of Sul De
Minas, known for its rare and harmonious blend of microclimate, soil
and altitude conditions, this elegant medium roast coffee has a
tropical, sweet flavor with a long complex finish. Coffees
of this exemplary quality are very rare. To achieve its unique
qualities, the Café de Minas bean is nurtured until perfectly ripe and
then carefully picked for a well developed body, pleasant aroma and
lively sweetness. Due to the coffee’s top rating and strong
demand, it will be offered for a limited time only, beginning August
25th and will be priced at $18.95 per 12-ounce bag.
Cup of Excellence Program
The Cup of Excellence is a strict competition that selects the very
best coffee produced in a country for the year. Winners are
chosen by a select group of national and international judges and are
cupped at least five times during the competition process.
Only coffees that receive a score of 80 or above are allowed to move
forward in the competition. The final winners are awarded the
prestigious Cup of Excellence and are solely sold to the highest bidder
during an Internet auction.
