The Millrock Latte Art Competition
featured some of the countries finest baristi going head to head in a
rich and effervescent display of their coffee creativity. To be
able to create these beautiful patterns requires an advanced level of
expertise and requires that the barista have a handle on all of the
scientific factors that come together resulting in a drink that tastes
nearly as good as fresh ground coffee smells.
Conrats to Reid from Zoka Coffee for coming in 1st place in the
competition! Vegas here we come. Thanks also to Millrock, Chris DeFerio
of Carriage House Coffee and Sarah Allen of Barista Magazine for
judging the competition.
The SCAA and Murky Coffee present the Mid Atlantic Regional Barista
Competition (MARBC), to take place at the Washington DC Convention
Center, February 24-26, 2006, in conjunction with Coffee Fest DC.
Baristas from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, and
Washington DC are eligible to compete at this United States Barista
Championship (USBC) Committee sanctioned event. The champion from
our region will then represent the Mid Atlantic region at the 2006 US
Barista Championship, to be held in conjunction with the 2006
Specialty Coffee Association of America Conference & Exhibition
(April 7-10) in Charlotte, NC.
